The Artists
My art is inspired by the architects who come to play, in post war Fort Lauderdale. My fascination with this “Moment in Time” began with seeing of the large collection of mid-century motels in Fort Lauderdale Beach. Each of these buildings is unique. I capture the moment when Fort Lauderdale Beach was a blank canvas for visionary architects. Now, as modern development turns a page, my art becomes even more of a wistful and Reverend owed to the architecture of that time.
My pencil drawings are created by enlarging black-and-white postcards and then hand colouring them. They are all images from Fort Lauderdale Beach between the years of 1945 and 1965. Some of these billings still exist. Some have been demolished and replaced with modern hotels condo condominiums.

Lee Brock’s art has been shown in museums and galleries in Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Her work reflects a well-developed sense of modern design and is influenced by the painters of the New York School of Abstract Expressionism, Japanese Sumi-e ink painting, and the mid-century modern designers of Europe and the Americas.

Originally from New York and trained at the fashion Institute of technology, I’ve always had an “art head” and passion for creating. My work combines fine art practices like drawing and painting with digital graphics and vibrant colour to create bold, expressive pieces.
Now based in North Miami, I continue to expand and refine my artistic vision.
